Created Initial Prototype
We've created an initial prototype for the 'Future Hero' game that plays off the 'trolley problem' to showcase what we think could be a big game mechanic; Having to make tough decisions in the present based on the knowledge you have about the future. So far, said prototype has been shown off at a local Game Jam, and we got some constructive feedback.
This week, we're focused on getting the team organized and preparing a presentation of our initial prototype, which we'll present as a pitch for the game to a panel of guests from the gaming industry for feedback. So that means in terms of development, we want to add/alter a few features to better represent the game (making the game first person, and altering the story presented a bit), and we'll clean up the prototype (adding camera controls, hiding waypoints, and fixing up the sound effects/music). However, the main focus of this week is to get ourselves organized.
So far, from the feedback we got, we know to focus on making the choices the player makes, and their outcomes, more varied/nuanced and thus interesting. There's quite a bit we can do with this game mechanic and we're still in the starting stages of development.
